Structure of Stamen Anther and Their parts Epidermis, Tapetum, Middle and Endothecium layer

The fertile position of stamen is called anther. The stamen is a male reproductive part of flower. The anther is made up of two lobes. Which is connect by a connecting tissue. Each lobes contain two pollen chambers. It mean each anther contain four pollen chambers. And pollen chamber contain pollen grain.

A anther also contain four layers which are:-

1) Epidermis layer.

2) Endothecium layer

3) Middle layer.

4)Tapetum layer.

1) Epidermis layer:- The epidermis is outermost layer and also called a productive layer of anther the epidermis layer prevented water loss from the anther. In a mature anther epidermal cell dretched and flattend.

2)Endothecium layer:- it is the second layer of anther. It is single layered cell. It is provide the structural support to the anther. The endothecium cell is generally uninucleate and highly vacolated. Few starch grain are found in the cell. It has the dehiscence of anther.

3) Middle layer:- It is the first wall layer of the anther. There are 1 – 4 layers in a mature anther. The middle layer degenerate and provide a space to developing microspore.

4) Tapetum layer :- It is innermost layer of the anther it is also known as nutritive tissue layer. It is nourishing the developing microspore.
